antilang. news update

Hi everyone. We know you haven’t heard from us in a while—as people working in education, the start of the school year is always a hectic time, this year more than most as so many of you know—but we’re back with big news!

antilang. no. 8

We are hard at work editing the next issue of antilang. and hope to launch it during the first half of November. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we vet the hundreds of submissions we received and give particular attention to emerging writers’ work.

2020 anthology

As we’ve done in the past, we plan to compile an end-of-year print anthology for our contributors, which will also be available for purchase from our online store and our friends at local independent bookshops in western Canada. The 2020 anthology will collect issues no. 7 & 8 as we want to get our publishing cycle in line with the calendar year and have many plans for 2021!

2021 publishing cycle

After returning to general submissions for a year, we are excited to announce a full cycle of themed issues for 2021: antilang. no. 9, 10, & 11. As with our previous round of special issues, each instalment will feature a guest editor whose work directly ties to the chosen theme. We have already lined up a guest editor for antilang. no. 9 and will be introducing them and our theme in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

Byte-sized teasers

We have new Good Short Reviews and On Editing blog posts in the works as we prepare for the next phase of The ALP. Patreon supporters will also get their first taste of our reimagined audio project, soundbite, before the end of the year, with a full production slotted for early 2021.
